Quito’s new airport opens in October 2012
Quito’s new International Airport will open and begin its operation on the 12 October 2012. The airport is located 18km from the city center. At 2,400 meters above sea level the new runway measures 4100 meters and is considered to be among one of the the longest in the world. Transfers from the Airport to the center of Quito is just over an hour.
TAME EP opened new routes from Quito to Tena and Macas
TAME, Public Airline Company of Ecuador, opened on Tuesday 5 June 2012 the route Quito-Tena-Quito, that operates Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with a capacity for 48 passengers. The opening of this new route aims to strengthen tourism, cultural, social and commercial development of all cities across the country, said General Manager EP TAME, Rafael FarÃas. In early May 2012, the airline also launched the new route Quito-Macas-Quito that is operating Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Customers who can plan their trip in advance will have access to lower rates. Likewise, a percentage of seats will stay protected at higher rates for those who must make lastminute
travel.
