Sir Richard Branson with pop sensation Alexandra Burke and comedian Keith Lemon celebrating the new Virgin Atlantic route between London-Cancun with an airside photocall, as they walk the wing of the plane on arrival in Cancun. The British stars joined Sir Richard Branson on the wing to mark the occasion, with Keith Lemon performing some airside antics for the crowds.
The new route, which began on 12th June 2012, will operate twice weekly and see 75,000 customers travelling between London and Cancun in the first year. Cancun becomes Virgin Atlantic’s 34th destination worldwide and Virgin Atlantic estimates that the new route will deliver around $25million of tourism revenue to the Cancun market each year. The service is operated by a Boeing 747-400, configured with 14 Upper Class Suites, 58 Premium Economy seats and 379 Economy seats.Virgin Atlantic’s fleet of seven 747s is being given a £50m facelift with new seats being fitted to premium economy and economy cabins and brand new IFE.
